About Elloree...

Elloree, South Carolina was established as a farm and railroad community in 1886. Located conveniently on SC Highway 6 between Columbia and Charleston, Elloree provides a perfect day visit opportunity to individuals that live within The Times and Democrat region, and also for patrons visiting the Santee region.

Over the past few years, a renovation and revitalization effort to the downtown area have provided opportunity for numerous thriving antique shops, restaurants, gardens and parks. These features make Elloree a charming place to visit. There is a wonderful Bed & Breakfast, for visitors to spend the night. Art and other gift shops line the shady downtown main street. For the history buff, there is a museum devoted to South Carolina's rural past. Just around the corner in Santee, some of the finest golf courses in the country are available for excellent play.

Summer concerts are held every Sunday in Joe Miller Park. In January, Pork Fest teams compete in a Southern BBQ cook-off. Loyn's Park affords visitors a quiet shady place to picnic or just relax. The "Lights of Winter" fill the main street with the soft glow of candlelight and shoppers enjoy leisurely shopping with extended hours in most shops. Various festivals fill Cleveland Street with antiques, art, good food and exhibits throughout the course of the year. Elloree has become known for its many antique shops and is a destination for those seeking anything from primitive country to fine silver.

The Elloree Trials, a premier venue for thoroughbred and quarter horse racing is held each year in March. Even if you're not into horse racing, the Elloree Trials provides a great day of picnicking, tailgating, reunions, and family fun. Elloree was the home of the late Chris Antley, two-time winner of the Kentucky Derby and a frequent participant in the Elloree Trials.
