HOLLY HILL - A Holly Hill woman died early Sunday morning in a car crash which was the result of a police chase.

At approximately 4:23 a.m. Sunday, while driving a 1992 Volvo station wagon, Lillie Ann Bradley, 50, of 663 Hessman Street in Holly Hill was being pursued by Officer Jeffrey Reid Hart of the Holly Hill Police Department.

Lance Cpl. Dwight Green of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said Bradley ran through a stop sign at an intersection. She then proceeded to evade Hart who was pursuing her in a 1997 Crown Victoria. She turned onto county dirt road 3121 north of Holly Hill. She apparently lost control of the car, running off the road and struck a line of trees. "She died as a result of that," Green said.

The officer also struck the trees and was injured in the crash. He was air-lifted to the Medical University of South Carolina for treatment.

Holly Hill Police Chief William Younginer reported that Hart is in satisfactory condition.

"They had to put three screws in his hip and a pin in his hand," Younginer said. "They expect to release him in two or three days."

The collision is being investigated by the Multiple Accident Investigation Team of the South Carolina Highway Department Younginer and Green said.
