Bamberg school calendar revised after loss of day due to water woes

BAMBERG -- Bamberg School District One has revised its school calendar for the end of the year due to the day of classes the district lost when a water main broke on May 8, forcing Bamberg schools, daycares, restaurants and other water-dependent businesses to close.

The break in the 10-inch water main under Davis Street in Bamberg caused a change of plans for many Board of Public Works customers. Nearly 2,000 BPW customers suffered a drop in water pressure from the normal 55 pounds to about 20 pounds beginning at around midnight on May 8.

The revised Bamberg School District One schedule is as follows:

May 19, 20, 21 -- Regular schedule

May 22 -- Full day of school

May 23 -- Half day of school

May 26 -- Half day of school

T&D Correspondent Minnie Miller can be reached by writing to her at 138 Nature's Trail, Bamberg, SC 29003.
