Genealogical society fall session to be in Greenville in Oct.

The Annual Fall Meeting of the South Carolina Genealogical Society, hosted by the Greenville Genealogical Society and the Greenville County Library System, will be held Friday and Saturday, Oct. 3 and 4, at the Hughes Library, 25 Heritage Green Place, Greenville.

Attendees may visit the many places of interest in Greenville on Friday.

They may also register at the Friends of the Library table on the 1st floor of the Hughes Library. Maps, brochures and a list of the Places of Interest in Greenville may be picked up here. From 7 - 9 p.m. on Friday a Welcome Reception will be held at the home of Dr. Charles Lee.

Saturday's events will begin at 9 a.m. with registration, coffee and doughnuts. The welcome session will begin at 9:30 a.m. The sessions on Saturday will feature three speakers, including Brian H. Nilsson (researching female ancestors), Capt. Cliff Johns (Internet methodology to research your family genealogy), and Professor Scott Witherow (The Melungeons, Redbones and Brass Ankles).

The cost of pre-registration is $17.50 (includes lunch for S.C.G.S. members and $22.50 (includes lunch) for non-members. Lunch will be catered in the meeting room at the library.
