DID YOU HEAR? House divided at the ACC Tournament

She’s a winner even before the ACC Tournament tips off today.

Deborah Ward of Greenville, N.C., will be in Greensboro for the big games as a result of being the grand prize winner in financial services firm RBC Centura’s third annual “VIP at the ACC” Sweepstakes. She was selected from more than 180,000 eligible entries.

Her good fortune affords her two luxury suite tickets and behind-the-scenes access to each ACC game. Round-trip transportation to the tournament and hotel accommodations are also included. In addition, she will receive allowances for meals, two invitations to the ACC Legends Brunch and two ACC merchandise gift bags.

As Ward plans to share her grand prize with her husband, there is a slight problem.

“My husband and I are huge ACC fans, but our house is divided on our favorite teams. I’m a die-hard Duke fan, but my husband cheers for Carolina.”

A Blue Devil and a Tar Heel side by side in what could be a showdown game? Maybe it’s not as unusual as you think.

It appears fans everywhere are divided about their favorite ACC teams. According to an online survey commissioned by RBC Centura in tandem with the sweepstakes, Web entrants reported their favorite ACC team is the Tar Heels. Duke is the second favored team, according to the survey.

Despite the Heels’ favored position, however, Web entrants predicted Duke would win the tournament.

And that would put the “grand” in Ward’s grand prize.
