Orangeburg Department of Public Safety officers responded to a report of an attempted robbery Saturday at about 4:30 p.m. ODPS Capt. Mike Adams said they were investigating an attempted armed robbery in the 1500 block of Wingate Street. No one is believed to have been injured in the incident. Investigators were still on the scene late Saturday night. A command post was set up near the building formerly occupied by Tractor Supply. A helicopter with a searchlight was seen flying over the area. CHRISTOPHER HUFF/T&D PHOTO

" I think the DPS definally over reacted on this one!!I would hate to see what would have happened if there had been an actual robbery!!What a waste of man hours not to mention the cost of having a helicopter search for at least 5 hours all because of an ATTEMPTED robbery where Nobody was even hurt!!What where they thinking? Or not? "
