Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office

A Santee man said he was assaulted by a man with a screwdriver.

The man told a deputy Wednesday that while he was at his cousin’s house, he and another man started arguing. He said the other man scratched his chest and stabbed him in the shoulder with a screwdriver.

The deputy observed a scratch on the man’s chest and a small puncture wound which was bleeding on the man’s right shoulder, according to an OCSO incident report.

The man said one of his friends witnessed the assault, but the deputy could not reach her for comment. Emergency Medical Services transported the man to The Regional Medical Center.

The deputy obtained the screwdriver the man said was used in the assault, but could not reach the assailant. The man says he will press charges, according to the report.

  • In an unrelated report, a Vance woman told a deputy Tuesday that her brother threw something at her seven-year-old daughter because the child “rolled her eyes at him.”

She said she verbally confronted him and he grabbed her face and squeezed it, splitting her lip. She said he also slapped her in the back of the head.

According to an OCSO incident report, the woman said she is not sure if she will press charges. Her brother agreed to live elsewhere for a while.
