T&D Staff Report

The Christian Wrestling Association in Orangeburg will make history this weekend.

For the first time in pro wrestling history, Road Warrior Animal and Demolition Ax will team up to face CWA Heavyweight Champion Timber and his tag team partner WWE, NWA and Mid-Atlantic legend Greg “The Hammer” Valentine.

“Animal and Ax teaming together is something that every promoter had tried to do, including Ted Turner and Vince Mcmahon,” said David Garrick, vice president of CWA. “But schedules and contracts seemed to always get in the way. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case for CWA.”

The event takes place Saturday, Dec. 2, at Southern Methodist College in Orangeburg. Doors and concession stand open at 6 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. bell time.

“Valentine is looking forward to returning to the Carolinas,” Garrick said, “which was the heart of the Mid-Atlantic region.”

For ticket information, contact Kick Booty Motorsports at 803-533-1111, Roger Gleaton at 803-707-4072 or David Garrick at 803-308-5357. Ticket prices are $18 ringside, $12 floor and $10 bleacher seating.

CWA will also be taking donations for the Inner Harbor Children’s Hospital at intermission as fans exit. Any contributions are appreciated.

On the same night at Bamberg High School, the school’s booster club will sponsor a Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling event featuring Buff “The Stuff” Bagwell, Rikki Nelson, Chris Hamrick, Amber O’neal and Christy Ricci among others.

Bell time is 8 p.m. Tickets are available at Bamberg Auto Parts (Carquest) and the B-E High School office. Tickets are $10 ringside and $8 for general admission.
