  • Lake Marion, Bluffton JV teams split

    BLUFFTON – The Lake Marion JV Gators improved to 10-2 on the season with a 55-32 win over Bluffton Thursday.

    Leading the JV Gators were Donovan Wright with 10 points, four rebounds, 10 steals and four assists; Sheldon Butler, three rebounds and 12 assists; Larry Moore, eight points, four rebounds, five steals; and Sheldon Bradshaw, eight points, eight rebounds and three steals.

    The JV lady Gators fell to 7-3 with a 30-25 loss to Bluffton. Leading Lake Marion in the loss were Katrinda Staley with 13 points and Jamika Hanton and Laquannis Hayes, each with four points.

    Lake Marion returns to action Monday against Hilton Head.

  • CEMS defeats

    Denmark

    Carver-Edisto Middle School defeated Denmark-Olar Thursday in boys’ B-team action, 40-32.

    Marcellus Kennerly led CEMS with 12 points and Dylan McElroy added 10 points.

    In the girls’ game, Carver-Edisto edged Denmark-Olar, 21-20, as Courtney Antley scored 16 points, Hailey Carson added five and Shamay Everett grabbed eight rebounds.

    CEMS plays Barnwell Monday.

    rout Fox Creek

    NORTH AUGUSTA -- The Hunter-Kinard-Tyler Lady Trojans improved to 5-0 in region play with a 93-30 win over Fox Creek Tuesday night.

    Leading the Lady Trojans were Shalika Smalls, 30 points, five steals; Crystal Robinson, 18 points, 12 rebounds, seven assists; J’vonne Bell, 16 points, 15 rebounds.

    H-K-T is back in action tonight against Ridge Spring-Monetta.
