Orangeburg’s Cox Wood Preserving and The Okonite Company are nominees for the 2007 South Carolina Silver Crescent Award for Manufacturing Excellence.

The two companies are nominees in the award’s medium category consisting of companies with 101-499 employees. It is the second consecutive year the companies have received the nomination.

There are eight industries in the medium manufacturing category up for the award.

The winner of the award will be announced May 15 at the Salute to Manufacturing Awards Luncheon held in Greenville.

The award will be presented in three categories: small (up to 100 employees), medium (101-499 employees), and large (500 or more employees).

Orangeburg’s Decolam received the award in 2004.

The award was established in 2002 to recognize outstanding manufacturers in the state based on their economic impact, commitment to the workforce, and involvement and contributions to their communities.
