
An Orangeburg teen who pleaded guilty to assault this week will serve under the Youthful Offender’s Act.
Marcus Lamar Bowman, 17, of 2811 Rosedale Road, pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature in General Sessions court on Tuesday.
Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein sentenced Bowman under the Youthful Offender’s Act not to exceed six years.
On Nov. 11, 2006, Bowman was on the campus of Edisto High School when he initiated a fight with a 15-year-old student. Bowman struck the student in the face, causing a fracture in the victim’s jaw.
In unrelated cases:
Bernard Oliver, of 583 McKewn St., Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen goods and was sentenced to 30 days, suspended to six months of probation.
Goodstein ordered Oliver to repay $8,000.
Richarda Anderson, 33, 100 Song Sparrow Drive, Cordova, pleaded guilty to financial transaction card fraud and was sentenced to six months, suspended to three years of probation.
Anderson also pleaded guilty to two counts of forgery and was sentenced on each to 18 months, suspended to three years of probation. The sentences are to run concurrently.
Norma Ann Townsend, 69, of 319 Dusty Trail Drive, North, pleaded guilty to obtaining prescription drugs by fraud or deceit and was sentenced to one year, suspended to one year of probation.
Mark Caleb Gibson, 18, of 1920 McQueen Blvd., Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree burglary and was sentenced on each under the Youthful Offender’s Act not to exceed six years.
Gibson also pleaded guilty to one count of financial transaction card fraud and was sentenced under the Youthful Offender’s Act not to exceed one year.
Antionne Clark, 21, of 295 Miracle Drive, Eutawville, pleaded guilty to assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature and was sentenced to five years, suspended to six months in prison and three years of probation.
Mikedrell Jackson, of 139 Tyler Road, Orangeburg, pleaded guilty to defrauding an innkeeper.
Jackson’s charge stems from his staying at a John C. Calhoun Drive motel overnight without paying. Goodstein ordered the man to spend two nights in jail.
