Residents of Calhoun County will be making strides in the fight against cancer this weekend during the county’s American Cancer Society Relay for Life.

Beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, May 4, the Calhoun County Relay For Life will hold its annual celebration for cancer victims and survivors with the Survivors’ Walk.

The Relay events will be held on the Calhoun County Courthouse grounds between the courthouse and annex. In the event of inclement weather, the Relay will move to the Armory.

During the celebration, teams from around the county will continuously walk the track until 7 a.m. Saturday morning in support of the American Cancer Society’s efforts to eradicate this dreaded disease. The highlights will feature the Luminary Service at 9 p.m., and the fund-raiser will be interspersed with entertainment by various bands and disc jockeys.

The entertainment for this year’s Relay for Life will include: Disc Jockeys Save-a-Soul and Ernest Haigler; the Hi Cotton band; banjo player Randy Lucas; singer Theresa Jamison; the rap group Get At Me Entertainment and karaoke provided by Donna Sease.

Organizers invite everyone to come out to the Calhoun County Relay For Life for a fun-filled night of entertainment for a very worthy cause.
