With the Class A state championship series set to kickoff this afternoon, Bamberg-Ehrhardt head coach David Horton is looking for pitching. Needing to win two games Friday, Horton went with his two best pitchers, senior Matt Chassereau and sophomore Don Sandifer against the Johnsonville Flashes. The two came through, pitching complete games to help the Red Raiders advance to tonight’s series against Landrum. But, with both having worked so many innings, Horton said tonight would be tough.“We will workout Matt and Don over the weekend, and we might be able to get an inning or two out of them on Monday,” Horton said Friday night. “We will just have to wait and see. ”Landrum (27-6) defeated Bamberg-Ehrhardt for the state title in 2005, and the Cardinals have played in three straight state title series. The Cardinals defeated Chesterfield, 11-4,in the Class A Upper State finals, and have outscored opponents 69-12 in the playoffs thus far. Tonight’s game in the best of three series is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
