An evening of musical praise and worship is set for this weekend as Algeron Wright and A. Wright Music, LLC plan the release of his album, "Algeron Wright -- Live in the Carolinas."
The event will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 20 at the St. Matthews Christian Center, located at 731 St. Matthews Road. The doors will open at 4 p.m., and seating is on a first-come, first-served basis.
"It's going to be an exciting evening," said Wright. He said this will be the first time the public will have the opportunity to purchase his limited edition CD, and as part of the special release, buyers will receive a bonus DVD showing some highlights from the performance as well as a little about the man and the music.
Wright, who is the son of Louis and Eartha Wright of Orangeburg, recently completed the live recording at Stevenson Auditorium. The project featured several guest artists, including N.C.-resident Lejuene Thompson and Curtis Young, who hails from S.C., as well as Wright's mother and youngest brother. "Algeron Wright, Live in the Carolinas" is produced by Wright and Rodney Green of Claystar Music.
Sunday's concert will also feature a special appearance by the Charleston-based U.N.I.T.Y. Choir. Refreshments will be served immediately following the performance.
CDs will be available for $15 each, including the bonus DVD. Donations to help support Wright's ministry will also be accepted.
"This concert and CD are sure to be a blessing to the masses," said Wright, who authored every song featured on the album.
