Tri-County sends 35 football players to camp, thanks to Operation Round Up
By LARRY P. JORDAN, T&D Correspondent Tuesday, June 26, 2007ST. MATTHEWS – As a part of “Operation Round Up,” Tri-County Electric Cooperative will send 35 players and coaches from Calhoun County High School to football camp this summer.
Tri-County Electric Trust member Linzie M. Muldrow recently presented a check to Calhoun County Football Coach Walter Wilson to enable 35 Saints players and coaches attend a summer training camp sponsored by the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. The camp will be conducted at Charleston Southern College July 14-17.
“We couldn’t go without these funds,” Wilson said.
Tri-County Electric Cooperative’s Chad Lowder said the funds were made available through “Operation Round Up,” a voluntary program in which co-op members have their electric bills rounded up to the next dollar. The proceeds from this go into a fund to benefit worthy community projects. Lowder said the additional cost to each member’s bill is approximately $6 per year. A board of directors, the “Tri-County Electric Trust,” administers the fund. The fund totals approximately $100,000 a year.
