Ruff Riders Hoop-Stars hold fundraiser

The Orangeburg Ruff Riders Hoop-Stars will hold a car wash at McDonalds on Highway 601 North in Orangeburg between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 2 p.m.

Money raised by the car wash will be used to fund the team's trip to the national tournament in Florida, which may cost in excess of $8,500. Donations can also be made by sending contributions to: The Orangeburg Ruff Riders Hoop-Stars at 950 Boulevard Street, Orangeburg, SC 29115 before July 12.

The Hoop-Stars' 16-and-under girls' team won the YBOA State Championship held on the weekend of June 8-10, while the program's 14-and-under team finished third. Because of their finishes in the tournament, both teams were invited to represent South Carolina in the YBOA National Tournament to be held in Polk County, Fla. near Orlando beginning July 14.

CWA Wrestling

CWA Pro Wrestling returns to Orangeburg this Saturday with a double main event.

CWA heavyweight champion Timber will defend his title against Josh Magnum while CWA television champion Dustin Rhodes will defend his belt against Billy Gunn. The former "Goldust", Rhodes, will be making his first title defense against one of the original members of "Degeneration-X", Gunn.

Also on the card, CWA tag team champions Chris Chance and Adam Owens will take on Zack Salvation and Danny Dollar. Orangeburg's own, The WidowMaker, returns to CWA competition against Asylum. Allison Danger take on Becky Bayless in a ladies match, Malachi has issued a challenge to Rufio Rush and Amien Rios, Chris Grant, Brandon Paradise and Jonathan Davis will compete in a fatal four-way match.

Doors to the CWA Arena -- Southern Methodist College -- open at 6 p.m. with a 7:30 p.m. bell time.

Paw Paw Men's Golf Association Tournament

The Paw Paw Men's Golf Association will hold it's monthly tournament on Friday, July 13 at 3 p.m. It will be a two-man gross, two-man net and blind draw after. Dinner will be served following the tournament. You must be a member of the association to play. Call 245-4171 for reservations.

DTC Classic Golf Tournament

The Denmark Technical College, Bamberg-Hampton Alumni Chapter, will hold a DTC Classic Golf Tournament on July 28 at Paw Paw Golf Course and Country Club. Teams will play a two-person captain's choice.

Cost is $50 per player, or $100 per team. There are cash awards for first, second and third place. Dinner will follow the tournament.

JB Martial Arts Camp

JB Martial Arts is having a summer camp from July 9-27. There will only be 12 available spots per week. Time is 8 a.m. until noon. Weekly cost will be $75, and the camp is for ages 6-12.

Dixie Youth All-Star play

In All-Star baseball play at Hillcrest Friday afternoon, the Edisto Dixie Boys' (13 and 14-year-olds) defeated Orangeburg 13-6 before losing to Harleyville 18-1. Also in Dixie Boys' play, Summerville defeated Ladson 10-3.

In Dixie Minors (9 and 10-year-old) play, Barnwell defeated North Augusta 7-1.

Summerville and Ladson will play in the Dixie Boys' championship at 7 p.m. today at Hillcrest; Barnwell will take on Gregg Park in the Dixie Minors championship Sunday at 7 p.m.
