Linda Umdaymke has filed to run against Orangeburg Consolidated School District Five Board Chairman Dr. Kalu A. Kalu for seat 3 on the district board.

Umdaymke is the latest challenger to emerge in the District Five race. Robert "Bo" Gathers filed last week to challenge incumbent Samuel Farlow for seat 2.

Filing for candidates for Orangeburg County's public school boards will end at noon, Aug. 15. There is no filing fee and interested individuals can file with the county Voter Registration Office.

As of Monday, nine candidates have filed.

In OCSD Three, incumbent Margaret Belser and Roosevelt Hezekiah have filed for seat 2; incumbent Alice Pinkney has filed for seat 4 and incumbent Minnie Skinner has filed for seat 6.

In OCSD Four, incumbent Paul Bidwell has filed for seat 4. No one has filed yet for seat 2, held by Peggy James Tyler, or seat 6, held by Mary Brant.

In OCSD Five, no one has filed yet for seat 4, which is held by the Rev. E.T. Jones.
