CHARLESTON -- Photographers of all ages and degrees of expertise are invited to get out their cameras and tripods and enter their best photographs of coastal South Carolina scenes in the annual photography contest sponsored by the S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control's Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management.

The winning photographer will receive $200, and the winning photo will appear on the 30,000 copies of DHEC's 2008 annual tide table poster.

Entries must be of a coastal South Carolina scene -- including marshes, beaches or wildlife -- and be an appropriate illustration for the tide table. Horizontal orientation is required. Color photos and CDs with image sheets are accepted with a limit of five pictures per contestant.

Entry is free. Submissions will not be returned without a self-addressed stamp envelope provided by the contestant. Entries must be postmarked by Sept. 29. The winner will be announced in October.

Entries should be mailed to: Coastal Photo Contest, S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control Office of Ocean and Coastal Resource Management, 1362 McMillan Ave., Suite 400, Charleston, SC 29405. For more information, call 843-953-0251.
