The Canaan Volunteer Fire Department will receive a $204,037 vehicle acquisition grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency.

FEMA on Friday announced $317,259 in Assistance to Firefighters Grant funds to local fire departments and emergency medical services organizations in the state of South Carolina.

"The successes that have come as a result of the Assistance to Firefighter Grant program are significant," said U.S. Fire Administrator Greg Cade. "FEMA is proud to be associated with these efforts as we continue our support of America's first responders."
