By DR. SHINGARA SANDHU Sunday, September 30, 2007The swan missed the prince and the princess as he loved them a lot. However, the birds and the animals became close to him. The parrot and the monkey continued to nurse the swan and prayed for his complete recovery.
The swan was fed the best of marine foods. His recovery process went well. He now was able to fly as his wings grew back. He was very anxious to locate the prince and the princess. However, he had no information about their whereabouts. He never felt lonely as he was able to bond with all the birds of that island who would tell him interesting stories.
Then Prince Lotus sent his armies to the barren island to search for the swan. The attempt to locate the swan was successful. The prince and the princess visited the island and asked the swan to come with them and guide them in managing the royal responsibilities and duties. The swan agreed to their request but it was difficult for him to leave the birds and the animals who loved the swan. The swan was given a big send off by the inhabitants of the island.
The prince was very comfortable. However, he missed his mother and father whom he loved very dearly. As time passed Prince Lotus continued to repent and curse himself for the cruelty he heaped on his only son, Lotus. The king was now old and in falling health. In due course of time he dispatched a large contingent of forces to search and find his son, Lotus. The army was successful in locating Prince Lotus and united him with his father. His father decided to abdicate and crown Prince Lotus as the future ruler of his kingdom.
Prince Lotus told his father that he had a grandson and told him the story of how he met the princess. The king was very pleased to see his grandson and the princess.
The father king was so pleased with the turn of events that he wanted to crown his son with great pomp and show and decided to invite all the kings and queens of that time to his son's coronation. One of the royal families, participating in these celebrations happened to be the princess's parents. They recognized their daughter sitting next to Prince Lotus. After the ceremonies, they came to the princess, embraced her and apologized for their stupidity and cruelty and misfortune heaped on her. The princess was very pleased to see her parents again, and they were enchanted to see their little grandson.
Both the parent kings consulted with each other and had their children remarried in accordance with the royal tradition, with the swan as his best man. Prince Lotus, now King Lotus, turned out to be a good and kind ruler. All the families were united now and they lived happily ever after.
