OCtech's annual fund-raiser provides opportunity
to sample wines,food for a cause

If you're looking for a evening filled with exquisite food and drink in the company of friends and neighbors, look no further than Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Foundation's third annual "An Evening of Fine Wines and Foods," which will be held 7 to 10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 22, at The Cinema in Orangeburg.
The event will include wine tasting, gourmet foods, a silent auction, ports and sherries, desserts and coffee. It's a great opportunity for people to learn about different wines and the pairing with a variety of foods.
A silent auction will include wines and wine-related items, providing area wine lovers an opportunity to obtain special wines of limited availability.
The Capital Group of South Carolina is the evening's Signature Sponsor and will provide more than 100 wines for tasting. Each person attending will receive a signature wine glass.
Corporate sponsors include Eastman Chemical Company -- S.C. Operations, The Okonite Company, R.L. Utsey and Co. Inc., Roseburg Forest Products, Shady Grove Plantation and Nursery, South Carolina Bank and Trust, The Times and Democrat and Zeus Inc. Business Donors are Gulbrandsen Manufacturing Inc., Orangeburg Coca-Cola Bottling Co. and Orangeburg County Development Commission.
Six caterers will serve an array gourmet foods throughout the evening. On the menu are:

A Gracious Affair (Jackie Moyer) -- Crab stuffed mushrooms, assorted spreads and vegetable bites, cheddar date pastry

Aberdeen Catery (Jack Brantley) -- Grilled duck, venison and pheasant sausages with pepper relish and homemade mustard

Buck Ridge Plantation (Mark Gibson) -- Duck satays, fruit and cheese display with specialty breads

The Eatery at the Depot (Norris Jarrett) -- Crab dip with assorted crackers, Charleston red rice
n
Emmett's (Tyrone Gadson) -- Prime rib of beef, seafood bouillabaisse, artichoke and spinach dip

The Kuckery (William Kuck) -- Fried oysters, beef tenderloin
These items will be complemented by a variety of desserts provided by Jean Hundley, Barbara
Phillips, Joann Zeigler, the Chestnut Grill and Golden Kernel Pecan Co. Coastal Coffee will provide a selection of gourmet coffees.

Proceeds from "An Evening of Fine Wines and Foods" will help support many of the college's projects, including tuition and book scholarships, professional development for faculty and staff and other projects as needed for OCtech.
