Volleyball
, HHA closes regular season with win

HOLLY HILL -- Holly Hill Academy downed Dorchester Academy 25-8, 25-17, 25-6.

Victoria Way led HHA (16-1, 6-0) with 23 assists and four aces. Also, Meredith Jenkins had nine kills, four aces and three digs for HHA; Mary Auburn Shuler had seven kills, three digs and an ace; Carlie Franklin had six aces, six kills and six digs, and Wehme Caroline Hutto had six kills and a block.

The HHA JV (9-5, 5-1) also defeated DA 25-22, 17-15.

Kayla Crider led the HHA JV with six aces and one kill; Marissa Becker had five aces; Britten Dafta had three aces and a kill and Hannah Nester had two aces and an assist.

The HHA varsity will take part in the SCISAA volleyball state tournament this weekend in Sumter.

Branchville bests Bethune-Bowman

BRANCHVILLE -- Branchville downed Bethune-Bowman 25-15, 25-10 and 25-9, 30-28.

Leading Branchville (21-4, 9-1) was KaAnn Murray with 13 points, four aces, 15 assists and two kills. Julie Beeks had 12 points, six aces, five assists and two digs; Miranda Nichols had 11 points, two aces and eight assists; Savannah Connor had 10 points, five assists, five aces, four kills and one block, and Courtney Simmons had 10 kills, two blocks, five points and two aces.

For Bethune-Bowman (10-5, 5-5), Jasmine Shuler had seven service points and Mya Berry had three service points.

Thursday, Branchville is scheduled to take on Academic Magnet in a tie breaker for the Region 6-A title at Woodland High School. That contest is scheduled for 6 p.m. Bethune-Bowman will be playing in a tie-breaker game for third place against Cross at a neutral site on Thursday also.

Kountryside Tournament set

Kountryside Golf Course will hold the last night tournament for this year on Friday Oct. 19.

Format will be two-person captain choice (par 3) beginning at 7:30. Supper will be served at 6:30. For more information or to register please call 803-536-5888

Matt Smoak Memorial Race

The third annual Matt Smoak Memorial Motorcyle Race will be held Oct. 19 and 20 at the Mid-Carolina Speedway in Neeses.

Friday gates open at 2:30 p.m., and on Saturday gates open at noon. Gate fees are $10 for adults and $6 for children ages 6-12. For more information, contact Paul Steverson at 843-851-0607, 843-871-3339 or 843-209-2876.

Basketball Tournament

The Williston Police Department will be hosting the "My Brother's Keeper Basketball Tournament" Saturday, Oct. 13 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at the Williston-Elko High School Gym.
