COLUMBIA, S.C. - State officials say a steel fabrication company will invest more than $5 million and hire 120 people to locate its headquarters and a new manufacturing facility in Abbeville County.

Carolina Fabrication President Clyde Sifford says the company hopes to be a long-term contributor to the county’s economy and expand operations in the future.

Carolina Fabrication is a steel fabrication company concentrating on conveyor and air scrubbing systems for coal-fired power plants throughout North America.

The company anticipates that it will hire 180 employees by the end of its third year of operation.

The company should be operating in a limited capacity by next month.
