Raiders, Saints look to make move to 11-Man
By THOMAS GRANT JR., T&D Senior Sports Writer Tuesday, October 30, 2007Should either Holly Hill Academy or Clarendon Hall win the SCISAA 8-man championship, neither team will get to defend their title next season.
According to SCISAA Athletics Director Michael Fanning, the two schools have requested to play 11-man football in Class A next season as part of the football realignment for 2008 and 2009. Laurens Academy is also mulling over whether to reclassify itself as Class A and plans to inform SCISAA by Friday of its decision.
Dorchester Academy is also moving up in football from Class A to Class 2-A next season, rejoining Calhoun Academy in Region 1-AA. Orangeburg Prep will remain in Region 2-AAA for football, while Bowman Academy, Andrew Jackson Academy and Jefferson Davis Academy will stay in 8-man.
SCISAA is still finalizing its realignment for the spring sports.
