Firm to manage SCSU trademark

South Carolina State University has signed an agreement with The Licensing Resource Group to manage the University's trademark licensing program.

"It's an honor to have S.C. State University as a client," LRG President Lewis Hardy said. "LRG is excited about partnering with S.C. State to help develop and expand the S.C. State University brand to retailers and licensees."

The licensing partnership will give SCSU a greater ability to protect and market its brand through a comprehensive trademark-licensing program.

The partnership will also allow the university to reach a new market base throughout South Carolina and beyond.

"S.C. State University is poised to expand its brand and licensing program to introduce more options to licensees, retailers and consumers," said Erica Prioleau, director of university relations and marketing at S.C. State. "Partnering with LRG will provide an opportunity to grow the S.C. State University brand throughout the region."

SCSU is the fifth South Carolina institution represented by LRG, joining Charleston Southern University, Furman University, Winthrop University and Wofford College, and the third Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference institution, joining Delaware State University and Winston-Salem State University.

Founded in 1991, The Licensing Resource Group currently represents more than 150 clients, including colleges, universities, athletic conferences and athletic organizations. LRG is a privately held company with offices in Holland, Mich.; Iowa City, Iowa; and Winston-Salem, N.C.
