Special to The T&D

This year, members of Norway Baptist Church donated 148 boxes to Operation Christmas Child, a project of Franklin Graham's Samaritan's Purse international relief organization that sends children around the world boxes of candy, toys, school supplies, hygiene items, coloring books and crayons. In countries that allow it, the story of Christmas, written in the language of the child who will receive the box, is also included. Norway Baptist held three yard sales and two bake sales, organized by Lorraine Axson and members of her family, in order to raise funds for the boxes. The boxes were delivered to the First Baptist Church Family Life Center in Orangeburg on Nov. 16. Pictured, from left, with one of the two vehicles transporting the boxes are J.R. Canady, James Canady, Lorraine Axson and Reba Canady.
