COLUMBIA -- Award-winning businesswoman Carolyn Sawyer has just released a hot-selling business book highlighting the traits of million-dollar companies.

"Forget the Glass Slipper -- Build your own Castle: 10 Traits of a Million Dollar Business" is this one-time, prime-time news anchor's account from the frontline on how to take a business from a dream to real millions in annual revenues.

For many South Carolinians, her name is synonymous with news -- and in the last decade what's new in the communications industry. Sawyer, who anchored news on NBC affiliate WIS-TV from 1992 to 1996, left the tube to launch her own communications company. Today, The Tom Sawyer Co. employs 20 strategists out of two locations -- the original office in Columbia and more recently a Washington office to accommodate new growth.

In "Forget the Glass Slipper," Sawyer shares over a decade of experiences and demonstrates her business savvy for any business owner interested in propelling past the million dollar mark. Designed with the busy business owner in mind, "Forget the Glass Slipper" gets to the point quickly. One recent reader remarked that it was "like earning an MBA in 2 hours."

Other prominent reviews included:

"Forget the Glass Slipper is EXCELLENT ... I think it provides great information to anyone interested in reaching/ exceeding the Million Dollar Mark!" -- Nancy Michaels, author of "Perfecting Your Pitch: 10 Proven Strategies for Winning the Clients Everyone Wants."

"I just wish I'd had access to this information when I started in business in 1986. She takes a no-nonsense approach to business success and entrepreneurship." -- Doris E. McMillon, entrepreneur, author of "Mixed Blessing."
