ST. MATTHEWS -- As a part of Calhoun County's 100th birthday celebration, the Calhoun County Museum and Cultural Center will sponsor a reception for all Eagle Scouts who were or are residents Calhoun County, including all those who earned their Eagle award while living in the county and any who currently reside in the county regardless of where their award was earned.

The reception will be held at the museum from 2:30-5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 10. The honorees may invite friends and relatives to join in the celebration.

The highlight of the event will be to honor Tommy Edwards, scoutmaster of Troop 51, who has tutored and helped a total of 62 boys to attain the Boy Scouts of America's highest rank during his tenure.

The museum staff has located documentation of the Courts of Honor for all but nine individuals. They are listed with the date of their Court of Honor as follows: Nathan Gressette, 1947; Lawrence Gressette, 1947; Moss Perrow, 1947; William Pickett, 1984; Ernest Stokes, 1985; Jim Rast, 1948; Ed Rast, 1948; and Thomas Moss, 1962.

If the individuals, their family members, or friends can provide pictures or written information for these Eagle Scouts, contact the Calhoun County Museum and Cultural Center at 803-874-3964.
