Soup's on in Norway

Free soup kitchens, which were started by Rasia Steadman and Shaytoria Peeples as part of their Gold Star Award community service project, have been picked up by Girl Scout Troops 356, 407 and 486 and turned into a monthly event.
Vegetable and chicken soup, sandwiches and corn bread are the staples of the meals, which have become popular in the community.
In January, a fellowship time was added. Following the meals, guests were asked to look under their plates and, if a number was found, the individual won a prize. Then, a rousing game of bingo was played with prizes for the winners.
All in all, it was a pleasant evening spent in good company.
In January, the Soup Kitchen served more than a dozen meals and delivered another two dozen or so to area shut-ins.
The next Soup Kitchen is scheduled from 5-7 p.m. on Feb. 12 at the Three Crosses Ministry Building in Norway.
Come early - the soup goes fast.
