SCSU hosts performance of Shakespeare's 'Twelfth Night'


The South Carolina State University Lyceum Entertainment Committee welcomes the National Players of Olney, Md. to the campus to present one performance of William Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night."

The performance will be held on Monday, Feb. 18, at 7:30 p.m. in the Henderson-Davis Theatre.

Seating for the performance is limited and will be offered at a first-come, first-served bases. Admission is free to the general public and students from SCSU, Claflin University and Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College are encouraged to attend.

"Twelfth Night," one of the most commonly performed Shakespearean comedies, includes themes of love, frie-ip and the social construction of gender. The National Players production promises to be contemporary, innovative and exciting.

The National Players is America's longest-running classical touring company, with 2008 being their 58th season.
