Varsity Girls Basketball

Wilson Hall 46, Orangeburg Prep 31

SUMTER -- The Lady Indians are now 18-9 overall after losing their Region 3-AAA semifinal matchup.

OPS was led by Lauren Holley with 15 points. Allie Huggins came up with seven points in the loss.

Wilson Hall's top scorer was Whitney Townes with 13 points.

The Lady Indians are anticipating an at-large bid for the state tournament which begins on Friday.

JV Girls

Bowman Academy 27, Andrew Jackson Academy 23

EHRHARDT -- The Bowman Academy girls defeated the Andrew Jackson girls to win the Region 3-A tournament.

Brantley Easterling had eight points and Hailey Till had six to lead Bowman, which also won the regular season title. Michelle Padgett had 12 rebounds for Bowman.

Madeline Elkins led AJA with 15 points.

All-Area Basketball Nominations

Nominations are now being taken for the 2008 T&D All-Area boys' and girls' basketball teams.

Nominations should included the player's height, weight, class, position and statistics. Coaches may nominate as many players as they would like, but no player will be selected to an All-Area team without nomination.

Boys' and girls' basketball coaches are encouraged to send their nominations to blinder@timesanddemocrat.com.

Hunter-Kinard-Tyler vs. Great Falls 7 p.m. (at Richland Northeast High School)

Bethune-Bowman vs. Hemingway 7 p.m. (at Timberland High School)

Paw Paw to hold monthly tournament

The Paw Paw Golf Association will hold its monthly tournament Saturday, Feb. 23 at 11 a.m. It will be a two-man, Captain's Choice, blind draw with handicap. You do not have to be a member of Paw Paw, but you must be a member of the association to play. Call (803)-245-4171 for more information.

Clarendon Hall Prime Rib Dinner

Clarendon Hall will hold a Prime Rib Dinner Saturday, March 8 at 6 p.m. in the Clarendon Hall School Gym in Summerton.

Dick Sheridan will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $40 for a couple and $25 for a single. For more information, contact 803-485-3550.
