South Carolina State softball plays host to Oakland University
The South Carolina State softball team will host Oakland University (Michigan) tomorrow, Feb. 27 at 2 p.m. at the Lady Bulldog Field on the campus of South Carolina State University.
The Lady Bulldogs enters tomorrow's game with a 0-8 record after going 0-4 last weekend. The Lady Bulldogs will host Furman University on this Friday, Feb. 29.
Spurrier to speak at Gamecock Club
South Carolina Gamecock football coach Steve Spurrier and athletics director Eric Hyman will be the guest speakers at the meeting of The Orangeburg County Gamecock Club's annual spring meeting March 3 at the Cineman in the Old Orangeburg Mall.
Dinner will be held at 6 p.m., and the meeting will start at 7 p.m. Adult admission is $20 and admission for children under 12 will be $8. For more information, contact Wayne Lorick at 803-536-3190.
All-Area Basketball Nominations
Nominations are now being taken for the 2008 T&D All-Area boys' and girls' basketball teams.
Nominations should included the player's height, weight, class, position and statistics. Coaches may nominate as many players as they would like, but no player will be selected to an All-Area team without nomination.
Boys' and girls' basketball coaches are encouraged to send their nominations to blinder@timesanddemocrat.com.
Clarendon Hall Prime Rib Dinner
Clarendon Hall will hold a Prime Rib Dinner Saturday, March 8 at 6 p.m. in the Clarendon Hall School Gym in Summerton.
Dick Sheridan will be the guest speaker. Tickets are $40 for a couple and $25 for a single. For more information, contact 803-485-3550.
Tri-County Regional Chamber Golf Tourney
Santee Resort Country Club Golf Course will be the scene of the 2008 Spring Captain's Choice Golf Tournament of the Tri-County Regional Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, March 13, followed by the golf awards ceremony/business after hours from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m. The Chamber issues an open invitation to four-man teams and to individuals who would like to participate. The cost is $75 per player/$300 per team, plus $5 per mulligan (with a limit of two mulligans per player). Hole sponsor signs are $50 for any person or business owner who would like to advertise and to show support of the Chamber and the communities it serves.
