
HOLLY HILL, S.C. - A Teacher Recruitment Fair will be held at Lake Marion High School and Technology Center from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 5, it was announced during Orangeburg Consolidated School District 3 Board's March meeting.
Certified applicants can register for the fair online at www.obg3.k12.sc.us. The deadline for registration is March 31.
Also during the meeting, the school board heard improvement plans for test scores from the district's six principals. The improvement plans are to be in place by March 2009. Team teaching, administrator involvement, greater parental involvement and better trained students were the major themes of the principals' plans.
In other business, the board recognized St. James-Gaillard Elementary Principal Michelle Wilson who has been named 2008 South Carolina Elementary School Principal of the Year by the South Carolina Association of School Administrators. Rivers was presented with two dozen roses in an engraved vase from the administrators of OCSD 3.
Also at the meeting, selected faculty of Elloree Elementary and Middle School were allowed to address the board. Each faculty member presented a question to the board. The board and Superintendent Dr. David Longshore Jr. said they will address all of the concerns. Questions ranged from whose responsibility is it to address inappropriate behavior to what the board doing to recruit and retain qualified teachers.
In other action, the board approved Associate Superintendent Gerald Wright's recommendations for a number of field trips for students.
