DENMARK, S.C. - The discount variety store chain Roses has announced it is opening a store in Denmark.
The store will be located at the Bi-Lo Plaza on Heritage Highway, replacing the current Maxway.
Both Roses and Maxway are subsidiaries of the North Carolina-based Variety Wholesalers Inc.
Company officials say the Roses store will provide customers with a larger selection of electronics and other items.
“We are excited about bringing Roses into the Denmark area,” said Ken Ramsey, senior vice president of the Roses division.
The store will employ 40.
The tentative opening date is scheduled between April 15 and May 1. The store hours will be Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
Roses will offer electronics, furniture, housewares, domestics, food, family apparel, shoes and jewelry.
Maxway arrived in Denmark several years ago when it purchased the former Sky City building.
The new store joins the Roses in the Orangeburg Mall as the only other Roses in The T&D Region.
Statewide, Roses has locations in Aiken, Camden, Florence, Hartsville and North Myrtle Beach, according to the company’s Web site.
Variety Wholesalers Inc. operates a number of retail stores including: Maxway, Bargain Town, Value Mart, Super Saver, Super 10, Bill’s Dollar Store and Super Dollar. The company operates more than 500 retail stores in 14 states in the southeastern United States.
