High School Baseball
, Bamberg-Ehrhardt 13, Williston-Elko 6 High School Track
, Edisto second overall at North meet

WILLISTON -- Don Sandifer (3-1) picked up the win, striking out 10 while giving up five runs on five hits.

Sandifer was also 1-for-2 at the plate with a home run; Ross Nettles was 3-for-5, Brandon Bamberg 3-for-4 and Chaz Moore 2-for-3.

Dalton Wilson led Williston, going 3-for-4 with a home run, triple and a single. Matt Lightsey took the loss for Williston-Elko.

Bamberg (10-5, 4-0) travels to North Monday to take on the Eagles in a 6 p.m. game.

Orangeburg Christian 10, N. Walterboro Christian

Lance Haddock had nine strikeouts in six innings to get the win.

Orangeburg Christian will host Andrew Jackson on Friday at 5 p.m.

High School Softball

Bethune-Bowman 6, Cross 4

ROWESVILLE -- LaQuanda Williams led Bethune-Bowman, going 3-for-4 at the plate.

Franchesca Hook also went 2-for-4 with a home run. Rhonda Hook (3-0) earned the win, striking out seven.

Bethune-Bowman (3-1) will host Branchville Tuesday at 5 p.m.

N. Walterboro Christian 13, Orangeburg Christian 12

Laurie Lee was the losing pitcher in this contest.

Orangeburg Christian will host Newberry Christian on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

The Edisto girls finished second with 111.6 and the boys finished second with 95 points. Below are the results from the meet.

City of Orangeburg Parks and Recreation

Youth Basketball Summer Season 2008

Registration will take place from April 7 to April 25 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Friday. There will also be a Saturday registration on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Registration will take place at 367 Green Street in the two-story white house beside the Post Office.

There is a $40 registration fee per player. A $20 discount is available for City residents who provide valid proof of their physical address. Optional insurance coverage is available for $6 per player. The Parks and Recreation Department will provide a game jersey for each registered player. All fees must be paid at the time of registration.

Small Fry (ages 8-10) team placement will begin on May 12 at 6 p.m. Mite (ages 11-12) team placement on May 13 at 6 p.m. Both team placement sessions will be held at the City Gymnasium Participants are placed in a league based on their age on May 31, 2008. All leagues are co-ed.

All games and most practices will also be held at the City Gymnasium. Practices begin on May 19. Games will begin on June 9.
