A 29-year-old Orangeburg man was taken into custody Thursday morning after a robbery at the S.C. Bank and Trust in Elloree.

Money from the robbery was scattered across the bank parking lot. The dye packs added to the moneybags apparently exploded.

The man was apprehended after a foot chase through town near Park and Hampton streets, about five blocks from the bank.

Chief Preston Avinger said the suspect could be charged with armed robbery and first-degree burglary later Thursday.
