CHARLESTON, S.C. - Authorities say a tractor-trailer hauling lumber on Interstate 26 in Charleston County overturned, spewing debris across the highway and blocking westbound lanes for around three hours.

Highway Patrol Lance Corporal Bob Beres said the truck overturned around 9 a.m. Wednesday and crews spent about three hours cleaning up the spilled lumber.

Beres said the truck driver was merging onto the interstate when his load shifted, causing the 18-wheeler to overturn.

Authorities said 44-year-old Gary Gene Lockhart of Trinity, N.C. was charged with spilling the truck’s load. He suffered minor injuries.
