
Our Kids Inc., a summer enrichment program for area youths 5 to 16 years old housed at Williams Grand Lodge on Russell Street, is now enrolling for its 2008 summer program.
One hundred children took part in the program in 2007, its first year.
Among specialty programs that will be offered this year are a Champion Basketball Academy, where students will compete in AAU-sanctioned games against some of the top players in various age groups from around the nation; Lose It! exercise and training program designed to help inactive and overweight people of all ages understand the benefits of a healthy, active lifestyle; K.E.M.O.N. -- Keeping Everyone's Mind on Nutrition, which includes workshops that address health issues plaguing the community; Project "I Want 2 Help," where students can earn community service hours while learning the importance of community involvement; I Can Mentoring Program, which pairs students with an academic adviser or athlete to help them with academics and life skills; and 3 Cat, an enrichment series offering character education, computer technology skills, career enhancement, academics and tutoring.
Registration is $40 for the first child and $20 for each additional child, with a $25 registration per household, due at the time of registration.
Our Kids operates from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, June 9-Aug. 1.
