Coastal Carolina wins Big South baseball tournament
By The Associated Press Sunday, May 25, 2008DANVILLE, Va. — Coastal Carolina has won the Big South Conference tournament and received an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
The Chanticleers beat Liberty 9-2 tonight to win the crown. The Flames forced a deciding game by beating Coastal Carolina 13-1 earlier in the day.
Liberty led 2-1 after the top of the fifth in the second game, but Coastal Carolina scored six runs in the next two innings.
The Chanticleers will find out Sunday if their 47-12 record is good enough to host a regional in the NCAA tournament. The entire field will be announced Monday.
