Holcim (US) Inc. has announced that Anna Westbury has been granted a Gygi and von Wyss Foundation Scholarship. The $8,000 renewable scholarships are awarded each year to five children of Holcim employees who exhibit extraordinary academic and extracurricular talent. The honors were presented March 18 in Boston by Holcim President and CEO Patrick Dolberg.

Westbury, the daughter of Howard and Glenda Westbury, is a senior at Dorchester Academy, where she has participated as a ranking member of the Student Government throughout her four-year high school career. She has also served as editor-in-chief for the Maroon & Gold Newspaper and as captain and state champion of the Quiz Bowl Team. Anna is an active member of the Branchville Christian Church, where she is a choir member and service worker. She plans to attend the University of South Carolina Honors College and in pursuit of a degree in visual communications with a minor in political science.

The Gygi and von Wyss Foundation honors the memories of Hans Gygi and Marc R. von Wyss, two former leaders of Holcim. Holcim, one of the largest producers of cement and mineral products in the United States, has a number of manufacturing locations across the United States. Anna’s father, Howard, is the Plant Chemist at the Holly Hill Cement Plant.
