ETV's new Brit Club celebrates Britcoms and Masterpiece Theater
Thursday, June 12, 2008COLUMBIA -- If weekends aren't complete without a dose of British entertainment on ETV -- we're talking "As Time Goes By," "Keeping Up Appearances" and "Last of the Summer Wine" here -- then ETV's Brit Club will provide a new way to enjoy some of England's finest sitcoms and dramas with other Palmetto State fans.
At 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, ETV will hold the Brit Club Tea Kick-off Party in the high definition theater of ETV's Telecommunications Center in Columbia. Planned to coincide with The Queen's "official birthday," June 14, this event is a way for fans of Britcoms and Masterpiece Theatre to share an afternoon savoring tea and assorted refreshments while enjoying Masterpiece Theater's version of Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility."
Everything from dainty, assorted sandwiches to Lady Fingers to an assortment of English teas will be served on silver and china. In between bites of cream puffs with chocolate, club members will be able to savor tidbits of gossip, the latest news from "across the pond" and discussion about their love of British television and movies.
This Brit Club event is the first of several planned around the state to celebrate British programming on ETV. The Club is also a way for fans to view select screenings and receive advance notice of special events -- including station visits from personalities.
Club membership requires a donation of $30 per person or $50 per couple for each event. Seating is limited. For reservations, call 1-800-256-8535 or visit www.myetv.org.
