COLUMBIA -- Want to send a rocket hurtling into space? How about mixing together some gooey slime? Or maybe fine-tune your robotic skills to build a "Bugbot."

Kids can do all this and more this summer at the South Carolina State Museum as Mad Science of Columbia presents summer science camps for kids ages 5 to 12 years old.

Now in its fourth year at the State Museum, Mad Science offers weekly half-day camps from 9 a.m. to noon and full day camps from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in which kids will see demonstrations and make take-home creations.

Camp choices begin with "Dynamic Dinos" and "Secret Agent Lab" in June.

Camps continue with a broad range of topics for young scientists, including "Reactions in Action," "Science in Motion," "Rockin' Rockets & Aerodynamics," "NASA: Journey into Outer Space," "Red Hot Robots #1" and "Red Hot Robots #2."

Combo camps and early drop-off and late pick-up for children enrolled in a full day of camp are available. Prices range from $119-219 per child, and State Museum members will receive discounts.

To register for summer programs or for more information, call Mad Science of Columbia at 803-739-2122 or visit www.madscience.org/columbia.
