'Do Nothing Congress'

I would like to remind the voters who gave the Democratic Party control of Congress that they are now known as the, “Do Nothing Congress.”

When Mrs. Pelosi was elected speaker of the House, she promised the people that Congress would do something about the high cost of gasoline. Gas now averages $4.05 a gallon. Her second promise was to end the war in Iraq. This did not happen. She has made two trips to Iraq to meet with Prime Minister Maliki. I guess she wants to do Mrs. Rice’s job as secretary of state.

Now we have the presidential candidates not doing their jobs as senators. The past 16 months they have been campaigning for the greatest job in the land. Are they on a leave of absence without pay? I don’t think so. They are traveling all around this great country making all kinds of promises. One thing I noticed was that the candidates never tell the voters how they will achieve their promises. There is one thing we do know, Mr. Obama will raise our taxes.

Onto another subject, I read an article in The Times and Democrat stating that Sen. Graham would join with Mr. Clyburn to use taxpayers’ monies to construct the interchange at 301 and I-95. The Arabs don’t need any more of our dollars.

" Right on the money, Jim. Good evaluation of the situation. I heard a local politician say just today, "I vote my pocketbook." That attitude of "buying votes" is one thing that's killing our economy.
