The Maude Schiffley Chapter of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals in Orangeburg recently held its annual Foster Care Luncheon at the Orangeburg Arts Center.

“This event is only a minuscule way to thank those who do so much for the SPCA,” said FCP Coordinator Sheila Gregory.

A masquerade ball is planned for Thursday, Sept. 25, at the Garden Room in the Orangeburg Mall. The admission charge is $50 per person, and a masquerade mask is required, but black-tie attire is optional.

Participants can win up to $5,000 or more in a 50/50 cash prize drawing.

If you are interested in more information on the masquerade ball or joining the Foster Care Program, contact Gregory by calling 803-928-2778 or by e-mail at sgregory3974@yahoo.com.

For more information on adoption or volunteering, call Program Manager Betty Jean DeFazio at 803-536-3918,

The animal shelter is open for adoptions 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the first and third Saturdays of the month.

More information on the SPCA can be obtained on its new Web site at www.orangeburgspca.org.
