Foster parent dinner held
Thursday, July 03, 2008The Department of Social Service of Barnwell and Bamberg recently held its Foster Parent Appreciation Dinner in honor of present, former and potential foster parents.
The Barnwell County DSS announced that Heyward and Bettye Burch are its honorees for the year in recognition of their service as outstanding foster parents.
The Burches, married 20 years, have been loyal foster parents to three children in Barnwell since 2002. They are biological parents of five children and have eight grandchildren.
The couple are still in the process of adopting children among other pursuits, including Mrs. Burch’s writing of a grant to secure funding for an emergency shelter for the area.
