RALEIGH, N.C. - Christopher M. Benson, Stanton R. Garvain and Latoya C. Bryant recently enlisted in the U.S. Navy under the Delayed Entry Program at Navy Recruiting District in Raleigh.

The program allows recruits to enter the Navy and take up to one year to complete prior commitments such as high school. Using recruiter as mentors, this program helps recruits ease into the transition from civilian to military life.

Benson, the son of William D. Benson of Swansea, is completing his senior year at Swansea High School.

Garvain is a 2005 graduate of Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School.

Bryant is the daughter of Lucille W. Gamble of Orangeburg.

Benson, Garvain and Bryant will report for active duty to undergo basic training at the Navy’s Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes, Ill.
