Still looking for a candidate

I’ve been having a tough time choosing a candidate I can in good conscience vote for in November. I’m an independent and almost always vote for the loser. I voted for Richard Nixon when he ran against President JFK, then I voted for HHH when he ran against President Nixon, and like that.

I missed it again during the primary eight years ago when I voted for John McCain. I was wrong that time too. Actually I was right. Now we all know that John McCain would have made a better president than the one South Carolinians chose during the primary. Fact is, I blame South Carolina for giving George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney the impetus that started their ball rolling to the White House.

But things have changed since then. Then-Sen. John McCain had a mind of his own, as did Lindsey Graham when he was first elected senator. Now both can’t get close enough to the criteria of their leader, hoping they will be swept along with the tide that probably won’t come.

Anyway, I’m still looking. But don’t call me, I’ll call you!

" My decisions in the voting booth are never based on a straight party ticket - I like to look at the candidate. Sometimes I'm not thrilled with any candidates but hold my nose enough to choose one. I do this because we eventually lose our rights if we don't make the effort to get out and exercise our right to vote. How many "positions" are now appointed rather than elected? There will never be a perfect candidate, but I myself will choose McCain in November. However, when you decide, I'd sure be interested in who you're voting for because I might like to place a side bet because it sounds like you're pretty good at picking the loser... and there's only 2 thoroughbreds in this race!
