Abraham wraps course

Marine Corps Reserve Pfc. Ryan K. Abraham has been graduated from the Basic Metal Worker Course.

During the 14-week course with Marine Corps Detachment at the U.S. Army Ordnance Center and School at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., students receive instruction on welding fundamentals and equipment, welding process for oxy/acetylene and cutting, shielded metal, gas tungsten and gas metal.

Students also performed light-armored vehicle armor-plate repair and do preliminary training and classes on titanium, safety inspections, respiratory training and fitting, welding trailer, and metal-shear operations. Students are taught to to examine drawings and work orders, performed set-up operation, operator maintenance of metalworking and welding equipment.

Abraham, a 2005 graduate of Lake Marion High School, is the son of Diana R. Abraham and Larry Abraham of Orangeburg. He joined the Marine Corps Reserve in August 2007.
