A 52-year-old Orangeburg man was killed Saturday when his motorcycle struck a utility pole.

The one-vehicle collision occurred at approximately 8 p.m. on Blewer Road in Orangeburg County.

According to Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins of the S.C. Highway Patrol, the victim was riding a 1994 Yamaha motorcycle when the bike ran off the road and hit a utility pole. Collins said he was not wearing a helmet.

Orangeburg County Coroner Samuetta Marshall identified the man as Donald Myers and stated that the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.

The Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.
