Orangeburg man cycles 64 miles for ADA
Tuesday, July 15, 2008Erskine Reed of Orangeburg recently participated in his eighth consecutive American Diabetes Association's Tour de Cure cycling event.
The 2008 TDC Swamp Fox Challenge, held June 28, started at Santee State Park and included a 20-mile family route, a 64-mile metric century route and a 100-mile century route. Reed completed the 64-mile route to raise funds to help fight diabetes, the disease that affects more than 24 million Americans.
Reed was sponsored by Jerusalem Baptist Church, Wal-Mart and SCB&T employees. Reed will now focus his cycling training on the upcoming 2008 Multiple Sclerosis Society MS 150 cycling event, which will be held in Greenville on Sept. 27-28.
